The Senior Women’s National team, Black Queens and U-20 side, Black Princesses are scheduled to host Moroccan counterparts in international friendly matches in Accra, Ghana.

The Royal Morocco Football Federation will visit Ghana later this month with both women's teams and will play the two games during the visit and also to strengthen an already existing relationship between the two football federations.

The Black Princesses will host the U-20 side of Morocco while the Black Queens takes on the senior side, Atlas Lionness in two games on the 26th November, 2020 and on 30th November 2020 in Accra.

BRING BACK COLT FOOTBALL - YUSIF CHIBSAH

Former Asante Kotoko and Ghana Black Stars midfielder Yusif Chibsah is calling for football authorities to revive colt football which now seem ineffective in the country.

“It is time we go back to revive juvenile football because of the impact it has made in the development of Ghana football. We have to give critical attention to it to revive it.”

It is a known fact that the absence of colt football has gone a long way to affect various Ghanaian national teams negatively because of the magnitude of talents the nation has unearthed through the juvenile league.

“Colt football should be a nationwide plan with proper structures where we unearth several talents from every part of the country,” Chibsah added.

The very skillful retired midfielder however does not believe the academies that are springing up each year will be able to replace colt football.

It remains to be seen the policies Ghana Football Association will bring on board to revive the dead colt league when football finally return after Covid19 pandemic.

FELIX ANNAN: I WILL FIGHT FOR MY POSITION AT KOTOKO

Goalkeeper and captain of Asante Kotoko Felix Annan has admitted as far as he is under contract at the fabulous club, he will always fight for his position in the team.

Annan who has been in sterling form the last three years in the Ghanaian league has seen himself relegated to the bench of Kotoko this season with Kwame Baah taking his place.

The talented shot-stopper has only had five games to play this season and many fans have asserted his lack of playing time to a dip in form whiles others attribute it to his decision to get married in the middle of the season which they presume didn’t go well with his coach Maxwell Konadu.

Speaking on NewDay Tv, the Kotoko goalie said he has no regrets over that decision as his wedding was planned way ahead of the start of the 2019/20 season.

“I won’t regret today or tomorrow for my wedding, I arranged for my wedding before even the start of the league. I have good relationship with Maxwell Konadu and Kwame Baah.”

Felix Annan who earned a place in the Black Stars 2019 AFCON squad will look to fight his way back to the national team with playing time at Kotoko being the only guarantee.

A LETTER TO C.K AKUNNOR

Dear Charles Kwabla Akunnor, your appointment as the new head coach of Ghana’s beloved national team brought excitement to a lot of Ghanaians who believed in your coaching philosophy and your first call-up for the Black Stars which includes four outstanding local players is even an added value to the love for you.

For fanatics of the local game, it is always refreshing to see impressive Ghana Premier League players get the attention of Black Stars coaches in international assignments. It is surely a sign that they are working hard and are being rewarded for their relentless hard work.

Many can attest to the fact that this is certainly not the first time of seeing about four local players in the Black Stars squad for a qualifier. We have always had coaches in the past who only invite these players to camp and never give them the opportunity to showcase their talent with the national team.

In this new era with the new Black Stars management and coaching staff, Ghanaians deserve the chance to watch our “local superstars” performing in our national colours and not just being a mere spectator on the bench. It is about time our coaches have confidence to utilize the exuberance of local players who always come with extraordinary hunger to impress and cement a place in the team.

There is a school of thought that believe that certain big name players feel the national team is their birthright, so they don’t put in extra effort to ‘die’ for the nation and hence; the local guys should be opportune to take their place in fixtures that are not so cagey like the upcoming game against Sudan.

For instance it will be so logical to field a tried and tested prolific goal-scorer like Aduana Stars talisman Yahaya Mohammed who has recorded 11 goals in 12 games this season in such a game. Such a player needs no special introduction to perform in front of the viewing eyes of a fully packed Cape Coast Stadium.

A lot of Ghanaians have longed for a change in how we treat local players and this is the perfect opportunity for C.K Akunor to change the narrative and to sort of #BringBackTheLove. The love for our indigenous players is enormous and would be well appreciated when they are given the chance to actually perform at the national level.

The excuse previous coaches give to back their claims of not calling local players and giving them playing time cannot be valid for C.K Akunnor simply because the Ghanaian league is in progress and outstanding players deserve some valid playing time.

We can only wish the Black Stars well and hope that all the new players excel and are able to integrate into the squad to help our dream of qualification and ultimately in the long run; annexing the AFCON trophy that has eluded us over three decades. God bless our homeland Ghana.

Speaking at the event, President of Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA), Mr. Mawuko Afadzinu expressed happiness at the positive collaboration between his association and Fantasy Dome management to host various tennis tournaments at the world class facility.

The new facility at the Fantasy Dome will from Saturday 15th February, 2020 be opened to the general public to have a feel of the place and also exhibit their skills.

“From this weekend, anybody who loves table tennis and wants to play the game in a top class facility, can come to the Fantasy dome at Trade Fair Centre,” said Mr. Mawuko Afadzinu.

The Tennis court of the Accra Sports Stadium has for several years been the primary base of Ghana Table Tennis tournaments, however the Fantasy Dome which will now become the main playing court, will offer 32 boards which is an upgrade to the 5 boards available at the Accra stadium.

The Chief Executive Officer of Fantasy Dome, Leslie Quaynor also admitted that his passion for the game of tennis ignited the idea of collaborating with GTTA to spot talent and host several tournaments as a means to enhancing the growth of the sport.

“We’ve provided world class tables and world class equipment and hopefully, Ghana table tennis teams will come here to practice,” Leslie Quaynor revealed.

The Ghana Table Tennis Association will have the 2020 season opener on Saturday dubbed ‘The Chairman’s Cup’ which is an open session for every Ghanaian who wants to compete, as well as the right space for recreational table tennis.
